History Touches Down at Dulles

HERNDON, Va. — A piece of aviation history touched down at Dulles Airport Wednesday. The sole surviving Boeing S-307 Stratoliner — called the “Clipper Flying Cloud” — rolled off the assembly line more than 60 years ago.

It has been part of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space collection for more than 30 years, but has never been displayed because of its size.

However, starting in December, people will be able to see the pioneering airliner at the museum's new Dulles facility.
